Music: Rock || Workout: Running.
I had my first ever 5k race on Sunday - and I got a nifty t-shirt to prove it too, thanks to the Dutchess County Classic. I had a playlist with songs that from past workout playlists, but just in case I got bored with it, I made this NEW running playlist as well and that's what was blasting almost eclusively during the 5K - and it was fantastic ... the playlist that is, not the run.
I'll be honest, this playlist was was a bit secondary to the major leg pain experienced during the race. Most people learn some kind of lesson from their 1st race, and mine was very obvious to me - and probably should have been long before the race. The lesson learned: I MIGHT need to actually run on the road instead of the treadmill every once in a while. The treadmill spoiled me, and the hard surface of the road killed my legs - not shin splints, but must be some achilles tendonitis or something since it was all up the back & side of my leg.
Alas, you're probably here for the workout music, so I won't bore you with the self pity I drowned myself in all day Sunday. I will live to run another 5K (in 2 weeks), in new shoes, and after having gotten accustomed to running on the cruel, spiteful, pavement.
